  • Community-based behavioral health program is seeking overnight and weekend receptionists passionate about making a difference in the community. The Mental Health Association of Frederick County (MHA) is currently hiring multiple receptionists.

    Ideal candidates possess experience in an office setting, great customer service skills, and have a desire to work in crisis programming. Flexible, passionate people who desire to be part of a dynamic team in a growth minded organization are desired. Part-time positions currently available. EOE.

  • The Mental Health Association of Frederick County is currently seeking a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist as part of our Mobile Crisis Team. The Peer Recovery Specialist will provide recovery support services such as follow-up, information, referral, support, and care coordination services to individuals struggling with substance use by providing services using lived experience and training; providing training on overdose prevention and administration of Naloxone; conducting Motivational Interviewing (SBIRT) with clients to identify current readiness for change; documenting client contacts and maintaining confidential case records; performing scheduled follow-up calls and visits; connecting individuals to community services/resources, and assisting client with addressing barriers to connecting to care.

    Qualified applicants will be a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist and/or have related experience providing recovery support; have flexibility to work overnight/weekend/holidays as required, and have the ability to successfully pass a state and federal background check. EOE.

  • The Mental Health Association of Frederick County (MHA) is expanding our clinical team. We are seeking a licensed, bilingual therapist to provide in-person therapy to native Spanish speakers. The ideal candidate speaks fluent Spanish and has 2 years of experience providing therapy with a working knowledge of trauma interventions. Internships

Offering a training internship for bachelor, master, and doctorate-level counseling, psychology, and social work students.

MHA offers internship opportunities in several programs. We encourage students who are looking for real world experience that will expand their skills, knowledge, and attitudes to consider internships. Opportunities at MHA depend on level of education and program staff availability.

  • Bachelor-level internships are available in Family Support Services and our Call Center. These internship opportunities allow the student to immerse themselves in real-world learning. All interns will complete a rigorous training process and should allow for a minimum of a full semester to obtain the most experience and learning.

  • Graduate-level internship opportunities are offered through Counseling Services and the Walk-In Crisis Care Center for students in the final stages of completing graduate programs in mental health fields. Internships in these programs are designed to improve counseling conceptualization, expand intervention skills, and increase the student’s professional identity. These placements are for a full school year and supervision and training are provided by licensed mental health professionals.

    Supervision for graduate-level interns is an interactive process intended to monitor the quality of client care, improve clinical skills, and facilitate professional and personal growth. Interns can expect to explore client-related concerns and receive timely feedback on their clinical interventions in a supportive and professional environment and become part of a multi-disciplinary team.

    All graduate placements receive one hour of individual and one hour of group clinical supervision per week during the placement. Staff will coordinate with the student’s academic institution regarding requirements for internship completion.
