Come celebrate the Wonder of Children
Child Care Choices offers an annual Children’s Festival in Carroll County and Frederick County each spring.
Save the Date for Saturday, April 27, 2024 for the 34th Annual Children’s Festival!
On Saturday, April 27, 2024, in conjunction with the national Month of the Young Child, the children and families of Frederick County are invited to experience the 34th Annual Children’s Festival in Baker Park, located at the the corner of Bentz and Second Street in Downtown Frederick, Maryland, from 10:00am – 3:00pm.
During the Children’s Festival, approximately 65 area child care centers, preschool programs and child-related organizations volunteer their time to offer hands-on activities for the children. Every year approximately 3000 participants enjoy the activities, entertainment, and information—all for free!
While the children are enjoying the activities, parents can learn more about services available in the county. According to the Maryland State Department of Education, more than 50% of Maryland’s children arrive at kindergarten without the social and cognitive skills they need to fully learn from and participate in the kindergarten curriculum. They lack such fundamental skills as how to distinguish between numbers and letters or how to hold a book and pencil. These children will be at risk for school failure and associated negative outcomes. So again this year, the festival will feature information for parents on school readiness and information on how to make everyday activities learning activities.
Activity booths and entertainment are provided by programs, agencies, and businesses serving young children.
