Transformation of Mental Health Care in Maryland Brian Hepburn, M.D., Executive Director, Mental Hygiene Administration Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene The Mental Health Transformation State Incentive Grant has allowed Maryland’s public mental health system to plan for some profound changes in areas such as organizational policies, practices, and funding. The goal of this grant is to increase the availability of high-quality service while overcoming existing fragmentation that is found in the mental health system. Dr. Hepburn will be discussing the transformation of the mental health system as it is today - antiquated, limited, and disconnected. He will explain the goals and objectives of moving mental health care into the 21st century, creating a mental health system that assists recovery and restores resilience in the lives of children and adults.
