Graduate Internship Program

Internship and Training Opportunities:

Counseling Services is a training program for Master’s and Doctorate level counseling, psychology, and social work students. Applicants must be in their advance year(s) of graduate level work and second year of field placement. All placements are full school year placements. One semester practicum placements are not available. Supervision and training are provided by licensed mental health professionals.

Counseling Services supervision is an interactive process intended to monitor the quality of client care, improve clinical skills, and facilitate professional and personal growth. Interns can expect to explore client-related concerns and receive timely feedback on their clinical interventions in a supportive and professional environment. Interns will be exposed to Counseling Services staff, patients, physical facilities, clinical equipment, and materials. The Counseling Services internship program is designed to improve counseling conceptualization, intervention skills, and to increase a sense of professional identity.

Counseling Services will provide one hour of individual and one hour of group clinical supervision per week for the duration of the placement at this agency. The Clinical Director will complete all evaluation/reference forms necessary to verify this supervision and will report on the supervisee’s performance during this period of time to the appropriate academic institution, state licensing board, and/or national certification board for the purposes of credits, credentialing and/or licensure.

Applications are accepted between January 15th and March 1st for fall placements. The Clinical Director conducts interviews between March and April with final decisions made by April 30th. Applications are accepted between August 15th and October 1st for spring placements. Interviews are set for October with decisions made by November 15th.
